The folks at The Walt Disney Studios have been dropping some major bombs at their D23 Expo in Anaheim this weekend, and it's no surprise that many of them are coming from a galaxy far, far away. The STAR WARS news is big and plentiful, covering everything from the next couple of movies to the long-awaited announcement regarding STAR WARS expansions at the Disney Parks. Here's the rundown...
Visitors to next month's D23 Expo in Anaheim had best bring a few extra bucks, and an extra suitcase. The folks at Disney Store are rolling out some new products that are being previewed at the show - and offered for sale for the first time ever! There's new offerings from the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, TOY STORY 20th Anniversary, Tsum Tsum, ABC's ONCE UPON A TIME, and yes, my favorite - STAR WARS. Check out a sneak-preview below!
Fans attending the D23 Expo in Anaheim next month have a new reason to get excited: Disney Interactive is breaking out the big blasters... the kind from a galaxy far, far away, and also from the world of MARVEL. From August 14-16, guests can visit the Disney Interactive Pavilion on the show floor to experience hands-on demos with the much-anticipated Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition (along with some rockin' giveaways, check out Electronic Arts' STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT, Namco's STAR WARS: BATTLE POD (which is absolutely fantastic, and has cost me money) and the latest mobile apps. But that's not all, a Sunday panel will also drop the curtain on some new info from Square Enix pertaining to KINGDOM HEARTS III. Want to know more?
From the Department of "Cool Stuff from Cool Events I Won't Be Attending This Year" comes a fresh announcement from the folks at Hallmark. "They have every Disney Golden Book ever made. I had that one... and that one... and this one right here." Those were the thoughts running through my head last month as I browsed a selection of books held within The Walt Disney Archives in Burbank, California. Just a few weeks prior, when I learned (and later announced) that I'd be flying out to Los Angeles to meet up with the Disney crew for a variety of projects (a trip that Disney paid for in full), I'd visited my own archives, specifically, a silver tote in my garage that holds a variety of keepsakes from the earliest years of my life. Mickey Mouse and his friends were a huge part of my life back then (pictures here), and now they are again, as I raise my daughters... and continue my own adventures in media. To think that a little kid that was making Mickey Mouse thumbprint art in the 1970s would be exploring the heart of the Disney empire in 2014... it's still completely hard to wrap my head around.
