My wife and I have been attending the Wizard World Comic Con Chicago (previously dubbed simply "Wizard World Chicago") off-and-on since 1999. We started attending as fans, and in large part I credit the event as giving me the inspirational push to jump into my own creative endeavors at the beginning of the 21st century. By 2003/2004, we'd become exhibitors in the "Small Press" area, showing off my short films and selling some wares. In the years that would follow, my path would change, and by 2008 I was a listed guest, and my comic book DEATH WALKS THE STREETS would launch at Wizard World with an exclusive variant that the late Comics Buyer's Guide declared a "Must-Have Convention Variant." Strange times, indeed - and then I became "The Rock Father," and our convention-going came to an end - but not until one last round in 2010 when Addie was still in a baby carrier. So here we are in 2015, and man has Wizard World changed...

If there wasn't a certain film called STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS set for release this December, I'd try using my time-shaper to fast-forward right to March 25, 2016 to see my two favorite superheroes battle it out on the big screen. See, BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE has me conflicted, if only because SUPERMAN was my favorite superhero during my religious reading of comic books in the 1980s... but then Tim Burton's 1989 BATMAN film bumped the caped crusader into the top spot, where he's forever remained. Personally, I believe it's because my own personality is closer to that of BATMAN and his alter-ego, BRUCE WAYNE... but knowing that they'll be going head-to-head is still a weird thing - but one I look forward to. Today, EMPIRE Magazine unleashed a trio of new images that will be featured in their September issue (get it here). Take a look...

2016 is already shaping up to be a huge year for fans of DC Comics, with DC SUPER HERO GIRLS rolling out, BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hitting theaters, and the grownups-only SUICIDE SQUAD following down the line. For the toy aisles, there's a new addition that's just been revealed, and it comes from some old "friends."

Guests at Comic-Con International in San Diego last week got a first-look at the latest real-life vehicle to be spawned from the world of Mattel's iconic HOT WHEELS brand. The BATMAN v. SUPERMAN Twin Mill was inspired by the forthcoming BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and will be reproduced as a 1:64 scale diecast car that kids and collectors will be able to find next spring as part of a larger BvS line of vehicles. Check out the making-of video below, along with some words on the styling direct from the Hot Wheels Team...

Comic-Con is always BIG, but this year may have been the biggest ever, with fans going crazy for new looks at some hot properties. While rumors had Warner Bros. holding off on SUICIDE SQUAD to focus on BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - they were wrong... way wrong. In fact, moments after the first teaser for David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD hit the screen in Hall H, nearly the entire cast of the upcoming DC Comics-based film hit the stage to thunderous applause. Unfortunately, the SDCC first-look footage was bootlegged in poor quality (and subsequently NOT posted on this site), and today the folks at Warner Bros. have released a legitimate version. Check out the new teaser now, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine... JUSTICE HAS A BAD SIDE.

According to Director Zack Snyder, the "big rule" he and his team on BATMAN v. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE "broke" was putting Gotham City and Metropolis next to each other. "They're sister cities - it's like Oakland vs. San Francisco," he states. This new dynamic was on display in new footage unveiled as part of an all-new trailer at Comic-Con International by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics, bringing out an appearance by the cast of the film, which hits theaters on March 25, 2016. Check it out below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine!
