PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)While The Rock Daughters won't officially be Back-to-School until the end of the month, we've definitely reached summer's last hurrah, and for many, summer's already done and the school bell has officially rung. To close things out, PBS KIDS is serving up a Summer Safari Movie Event with the television premiere of CURIOUS GEORGE 3: BACK TO THE JUNGLE, airing Monday, August 17th (check local listings for times). With Back-to-School on the brain, PBS KIDS is also continuing its partnership with Whole Foods Market for a new collection of Back-to-School items that are made with organic cotton, recycled paper or other responsible materials - and these school supplies get extra credit: 100% of PBS KIDS’ net proceeds from the line will support PBS KIDS educational programming, dedicated to helping all children succeed in school and in life. Whole Foods Market will donate a percentage of total sales to their Whole Kids Foundation as well. So how about a preview of CURIOUS GEORGE 3: BACK TO THE JUNGLE?

What I still find that a lot of parents don't realize is that CURIOUS GEORGE teaches STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills, and whether it's here in the summer or during the school year, PBS KIDS has a full line of learning materials that are available free-of-charge to parents (here) and educators (here). It's a perfect example of how learning can be FUN.

As a PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent), my girls received a CURIOUS GEORGE learning kit this month, packed with samples of everything I've mentioned here. From the printable activities to a reusable sandwich bag and organic cotton backpack (and even some bubbles and Educational Insights binoculars), there's been a lot to enjoy and explore.

You know, CURIOUS GEORGE and I go way back. Here's a rare photo of us hanging out in Miami back in 2013...
