Released theatrically in-time for Earth Day this past April, Disneynature BEARS is a rarity when it comes to animal-based documentary films - one where the subjects of the film - the whole animal family - [SPOILER ALERT!] make it through alive. For parents, that means some worry-free viewing when it comes to enjoying it with the little ones, despite a little bit of peril here and there, which should be expected when dealing with (and teaching) nature.

61aQYzStefLThe beautifully-shot film follows a year in the life of Sky, a mother Kodiak bear and her two cubs, Amber and Scout, as they emerge from their den post-winter and journey through the Alaskan wilderness in search of food and the company of other bears.

Narrated by John C. Reilly (Prestige Worldwide), the level of detail and interaction with the film's subjects is incredible (how they did it is featured in the bonus materials), and the intimacy with the bears adds to it's appeal - especially for the kids - providing a captivating and gentle look at these powerful creatures as they live and thrive in one of America's last great untouched lands.

Rock Father-approved.
