The Random Rock: News on FOO FIGHTERS, BEA MILLER, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, more...Written by James Zahn
I get hit with so much music news here at Rock Father HQ that there's barely any way to cover it - much less a lot of it. That's why I'm going to make an effort to get my old "Random Rock" column happening on a more frequent basis again. The deal is simple - I'll start off with a stream or video to enjoy while reading, followed by a list of quick news items from around the music world (though likely with a "rock" focus). If you'd like to know more about a story, a link will be provided to do so. Here we go...
The Random Rock: HARVEY DANGER, The MELVINS, REVEREND HORTON HEAT, BAYSIDE, ALICE IN CHAINS and more...Written by James Zahn
As I decided to resurrect my old "Random Rock" Column this week, I started looking at the news in my inbox and having flashbacks to a pre-email era. MELVINS... ALICE IN CHAINS... HARVEY DANGER... REVEREND HORTON HEAT? Was it 1997 again? I say that in jest, of course, since I love all of those bands.
Below, you'll find rapid-fire updates on those artists and more, right here on THE ROCK FATHER.
Here we are with another installment of The Random Rock N' More, the column where the Music for Grownups section takes a place on the homepage. Be warned, many of these artists cannot be considered 'family-friendly,' but this is their time. As part of a balanced musical diet, there's a little of everything here from mainstream rock to pop to pop punk to black metal, hip-hop, indie rock, and more. This is all stuff that has landed in The Rock Father's inbox over the past few days, and I want to cover as much of it as possible. Like what you see? Links are provided to learn more. Let's go...
Keeping busy on Baby Watch 2012, I've been behind on the music news. Since the publicists and artists have been looking for coverage, I'm always happy to help when I can, so that means it's time for another list of rapid-fire updates on over 40 bands and artists from around the music spectrum. This is also when the not-neccessarily family-friendly content gets a spot on The Rock Father homepage, so be warned.
It's time for a weekend edition of The Random Rock N' More, the column where the ''...for Grown-ups'' section infiltrates the normally family-friendly homepage of The Rock Father. Below you'll find updates on over 40 bands and artists - all of which have hit my inbox in the past few days. ''Random Rock'' means just that. Black Metal, indie, punk, acoustic, underground, mainstream - it's all here. ''N' More is everything else for a well-balanced musical parfait. Let's get to work.
It's time for another installment of The Random Rock N' More - the column where the ''...For Grown-ups'' section of The Rock Father get's homepage placement. Below the break you'll find rapid-fire updates on over 25 bands and artists - that aren't neccessarily 'family friendly.' Check out these bite-sized nuggets of knowledge and hit the enclosed links for more. This marks a trial of a more colorful version of The Random Rock, adding some visual enhancements (one album cover) instead of a plain list. BTW - When I say 'Random Rock' - that means you're getting metal, radio rock, thrash, punk, mainstream, black metal, indie, all corners of rock. Let's do this!
So much rock. So little time. I cover 'Music for Kids' and 'Music for Grown-ups' here on The Rock Father™, and since so much news from the latter pours in here on a daily basis, there's just no way to cover it all... but I can do a lot, in bite-sized nuggets. Hence, The Random Rock N' More - quick one-liners on dozens of bands and artists, each with a link to delve deeper if you choose. The important info without the fluff. It's also the only real time that the 'For Grown-ups' music hits the homepage. We'll start with 'Rock' - from indie to mainstream, metal to punk, and everything in-between - then shift to 'N More' for some other genres. Here's updates on over 36 bands and artists for May 5, 2012.
It's only Tuesday, yet still a fair amount of music news has been hitting my inbox here at Rock Father HQ. While I can't say anything has been completely mind-blowing, there's enough here for an early-edition of The Random Rock N' More, the column where I fire off quick one-line updates on a bunch of artists. If you want to dig deeper, a link is provided. As always, this hits on all areas of 'rock' from indie and folk to black metal and grindcore - "Music for Grown-ups" that wouldn't be featured on the homepage of The Rock Father™ site. Everything is fair game. Here's your Random Rock for Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
It's been a busy week for The Rock Father™, hence my keeping up with all the music news hitting my inbox has been slower than usual. I've been working on a 'secret' project for one of my favorite bands (I'll blog about it sooner or later) since last week, so it's time for some catching up here on the site - another edition of The Random Rock N' More. This is the column where I blast through updates on tons of artists from the rock world (everything from indie and folk to thrash, black metal, and pop fare), then drop in the "N' More" for some non-rock musical goodness to expand those musical horizons. Each update comes with a link to learn more. That said, here's the updates for Saturday, April 7, 2012. Be careful tonight, folks - rumor has it that a man-sized rabbit might be on the loose.
It's the middle of the week and the music news is flowing. While The Rock Father™ is all about entertainment for the kids, there's plenty of Music for Grownups, and that brings us to another edition of The Random Rock N' More. I've got rapid fire updates on over 40 bands and artists starting with ''rock'' (from mainstream to indie, pop rock to black metal), and finishing with ''N' More,'' brief items from elsewhere in the musical spectrum. A well-rounded musical pallette is good for the ears. Here we go!
So much rock, so little time. If you're only popping into The Rock Father™ for these rapid-fire updates, be sure to check out the homepage for some family-friendly rock n' roll adventures. As for this installment of The Random Rock N' More, I've got updates galore covering 40 bands and artists. If you're not familiar with how this works - I give you the essential information, then give you a link if you choose to learn more. The Random Rock is first, with N' More (all other genres) following. Here we go...
It's been a little while since I've done a Random Rock column, so we're more than overdue. The drill is simple - I offer random-fire updates on a few dozen artists along with links to dig deeper, should you choose. From here on out, I'm adding 'N' MORE' to the title so that I can include some non-rock stuff on occasion. With a current total of 7,943 unread emails sitting in my inbox (no joke!) I sometimes wonder if the bands, artists, labels, managers, and publicists appreciate my taking the time to do this... but I do love spreading the rock. Here's updates on 31 Artists for Thursday, March 15, 2012!
