CANDIRIA's WHILE THEY WERE SLEEPING is one of my most-anticipated albums of the fall, and today comes a full-band "play-through" video for the title track. Available on October 7 through the folks at Metal Blade Records, While They Were Sleeping is a concept album conceived by the band's lead vocalist Carley Coma. It tells the tale of a failed musician who rises up against a monarchy in New York City. Check out the new video below...

Brooklyn's CANDIRIA are a band that more people should know about - something I've been saying for many years, going back to when I first heard their album 300 Percent Density while working for the late Sam Goody back in 2001. Fusing metal, hardcore, jazz, and hip-hop, Candiria is back with a new album, While They Were Sleeping, set for release by Metal Blade Records on October 7th. It was recorded at Spaceman Sound in Brooklyn by Tom Tierney and Alex Mead-Fox, and produced by Candiria. Check out the new single, "Mereya," and all of the new album details below...

There's a lot of bands that never get their proper due, and it seems that I tend to find myself a fan of many of them - bands that sometimes disappear for a bit, and then return. HELMET, FAITH NO MORE, PRONG - all of those fit that bill, and now we can add CANDIRIA to that mix. A genre-bending Brooklyn band that melded metal, jazz, funk - even hip-hop elements into their sonic mix, it was a horrific van crash that changed everything. Now, they've signed to Metal Blade Records and will release their first album since 2009 next year.
