For STAR WARS DAY 2014, I'm featuring a handful of STAR WARS-inspired music here on THE ROCK FATHER for your enjoyment and consumption. After all, what other Pop Culture franchise has inspired so many musical homages and parodies? Sure, HARRY POTTER and THE LORD OF THE RINGS are up there, but nothing trumps STAR WARS in the musical inspiration department. Here's seven STAR WARS-themed pieces of music worth checking out as you celebrate May 4th. May the Fourth Be With You!
It's nearing the midnight mark here on a Monday night at Rock Father HQ and I'm sitting in my office mellow-rocking to the sounds of "All the Small Things" by BLINK-182... as a lullaby. The crew at Roma Music Group just sent over a preview of their latest Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star collection, LULLABY VERSIONS OF BLINK-182, which will hit digital retailers on September 24, and that song is on it. It's also available as an instant download if you pre-order the album on iTunes. Check it out, along with the full details on the set, which transforms a dozen of the Pop Punk legends' greatest hits into nursery-friendly jams for baby.
As posted last week, ROCK BAND is finally winding down, with weekly DLC coming to an end on April 2 after an impressive - and almost unheard of - five-year run. As the final countdown is upon us, there's still a few weeks left, and this week brings a trio of songs to the Rock Band Music Store, all of which were previously-included in last year's ROCK BAND BLITZ. Check out the details on the new-ish cuts from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, and BLINK-182 below.
The next installment of the ROCK BAND franchise is totally different, and it's arriving next month in the form of ROCK BAND BLITZ. First announced on The Rock Father this past April, the game requires no special accessories or peripherals, and is playable with your regular controller. ROCK BAND BLITZ arrives on PlayStation® Network on August 28th for $14.99 and to Xbox LIVE® Arcade on August 29th for 1200 Microsoft Points™. More tracks were just announced, and the complete listing can be found below alongside the latest developer video.
I have not yet seen THE MUPPETS, the 2011 Disney relaunch of the beloved characters to the big screen on which they belong. Yes, it was released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Download this week, but I haven't gotten to it just yet. In promotion of the home video release, THE MUPPETS have been popping up all over the place, most recently on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE (a show I was almost on once). Last night, DR TEETH & THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM paid a visit to the show, bringing with them guest drummer TRAVIS BARKER. While they busted out the classic tune Can You Picture That?, this was a perfect opportunity for ANIMAL to square off in a drum battle with the BLINK-182 skin-basher.
