This week, Slimstyle Records releases SILVER, a 2-DVD, 1 CD set that chronicles THE MISSION U.K. in their 25th Anniversary performances in Europe. To celebrate the release, they've teamed up with The Rock Father to get two readers hooked-up with their own copies of SILVER. Check out a performance of "Garden of Delight" below, complete with all the details on this new set. And be sure to get those giveaway entries in, Chicago-style (early and often)!

This news item was offline for a few hours earlier this evening while I figured out what to do with it. iTunes pre-orders were up, and are now down.

On December 3, Frontiers Records will release LIFE, LOVE & HOPE, the sixth studio album by iconic rockers, BOSTON - an record more than a decade in-the-making. Assembled by BOSTON founder Tom Scholz, the new album features vocals from the late Brad Delp, Tommy DeCarlo, Kimberley Dahme, David Victor, and songwriter Scholz himself.

I sorta miss the few years in the late 90's/early 00's when the whole rap/rock thing was happening in full swing. Sure, we hit overkill pretty fast, but there were some good times and good jams in there, and over the past year or so, there have been hints of a resurgence. Another hit my inbox here at Rock Father HQ this week with a track called "Hiccup" a preview of the new THERAPY EP (pre-order now on iTunes) by TECH N9NE. It's a metal-inspired collection that features contributions by Wes Borland of LIMP BIZKIT and Sammy Siegler of GLASSJAW, along with production by Ross Robinson (KORN, SLIPKNOT, SEPULTURA). Check out the track along with some words from TECH below...

Watch: THE CREEPSHOW - "The Devil's Son"

Written by

creepshowdiscToronto rockers THE CREEPSHOW have a new dose of rockabilly goodness online today with the release of their music video for "The Devil's Son." The track comes from their new album, LIFE AFTER DEATH, which hits the streets on October 22nd via Sailor’s Grave Records (U.S.), Stomp Records (Canada) and People Like You Records (Europe). You know, I once wrote a comic book that featured the Devil's son as a villain. Check out the video below...

They've teased it for awhile, and now THE PRETTY RECKLESS has finally unleashed a proper music video for their recent single, "Going to Hell" (on iTunes now). The TAYLOR MOMSEN-fronted rockers (who I dig immensely) are currently on the road getting geared up for the release of the sophomore full-length early next year on Razor & Tie. Check out the new clip from director Tim Mattia (CAGE THE ELEPHANT, MARILYN MANSON) below, along with some words from Momsen...

On October 22, Warner Bros Records will revisit VAN MORRISON's classic album, MOONDANCE, with the release of three new physical configurations and an iTunes Deluxe Edition.  The pinnacle of the reissue is the newly remastered and expanded version featuring 50 unreleased tracks including studio outtakes of favorites like “Caravan, “Moondance” and “Into The Mystic,” plus multiple takes and a final mix of the unheard track “I Shall Sing”. To celebrate the release, Warner Bros/Rhino have teamed up with The Rock Father to get one lucky reader hooked-up with VAN MORRISON: MOONDANCE, the 5-Disc Deluxe Edition!

On November 1, AUGUST BURNS RED will hit the road in support of their latest album, RESCUE & RESTORE (out now on Solid State), with BLESSTHEFALL, DEFEATER, and BEARTOOTH along for the ride. My friends at AEG Live are handling select dates on the tour, and they've teamed up with The Rock Father to get three ABR fans hooked-up with signed, double-sided posters promoting the release of RESCUE & RESTORE. It's a really cool collectible for the die-hard AUGUST BURNS RED fan...

I think it's been a pretty good few months for BARENAKED LADIES. Their latest album, GRINNING STREAK (read my review here) hit the streets back in June, and they hit the road for another LAST SUMMER ON EARTH Tour alongside BEN FOLDS FIVE, BOOTHBY GRAFFOE, and GUSTER (which I attended), and now they're back with a new video. It's a clip that's really perfect for the Halloween season, if only due to the Zombie onslaught that takes claims Kevin Hearn late in the video. But, "Odds Are" they'll be alright...

The crew from Century Media just hit my inbox with a message about LIONS LIONS covering the JAY-Z collaboration with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, "Holy Grail." Thing is, they really only half covered it, because they stripped Z's verses blaming lack of rapping ability in one forum, and use of "the 'N' word" in another. Whatever, VAYDEN did just fine with their cover of "H.A.M." by KANYE WEST and JAY-Z a couple of years ago, and they did it with the lyrics intact. You could also creatively change the offending word, but LIONS LIONS just did a Hova-less version. Check it below, along with some words from the band:

When we last heard from Jessica Fleischer, she'd just released her new LOTS OF LOVE album, and was about to release her first children's book. Now she's back with a new music video from the LOTS OF LOVE record, one directed by her sister, Rachel. Check out "It's So Hard" below.

It's been awhile since I've posted a "Covered" entry here on The Rock Father, but tonight I've got one that's too interesting to pass up. When Rocksmith 2014 hit's the streets on October 22, players will notice a track by a relative unknown tucked in among hits from PARAMORE, RISE AGAINST, SLAYER and PANTERA. "Wasteland" is a 2011 track from EarlyRise that's included in the game, but it's not that track that prompted this post. It's their recent piano-driven acoustic cover of KORN's "Narcissistic Cannibal" that intrigued me. Give it a listen...
