Like many of the original STAR WARS generation, I grew up on the occasional STAR WARS Comic Book, then-published by MARVEL comics. Fast-forward about three decades, and the comics are back at MARVEL, it being a corporate sibling to Lucasfilm under the Disney umbrella, and with STAR WARS REBELS out on Disney XD and J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: EPISODE VII filming now, a few new series' of comics are coming. Thanks to the new alignment, everything will fit into place nicely, with these stories being part of the official timeline, and today comes the first look - just a small tease - of what's coming...

This January, the first of three STAR WARS titles will launch, and the first-issue covers are interlocking, each drawn by artist Skottie Young. The covers debuted in art-only form (no titles or trade dress on them) over at MTV:

PRINCESS LEIA #1: A five-issue miniseries beginning in March, 2015 by writer Mark Waid and artist Terry Dodson.

STAR WARS #1: An ongoing series launching in January, 2015 from writer Jason Aaron and artist John Cassaday.

DARTH VADER #1: Launching in February, 2015 by Kieron Gillen with art by Salvador Larroca

What do you think? If they're going for "cute" on these to lure younger readers, they might be on the mark...

swlegendsAdditionally, January 27, 2015 will see the release of STAR WARS: THE ORIGINAL MARVEL YEARS OMNIBUS VOL. 1, a MARVEL LEGENDS hardcover that collects the first 44 issues of the classic series, along with STAR WARS ANNUAL #1.

"As the phenomenon dawned in 1977, Marvel Comics published the very first STAR WARS comic-book series. Now, the House of ideas is re-presenting those original adventures in its wampa-sized Omnibus format! It's the return of the Jedi to Marvel in an opening volume that begins tith A NEW HOPE and ends with THE EMPRIE STRIKES BACK. In between, the Rebels face a wealth of new perils--from space pirate Crimson Jack to the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, as well as a surprisingly svelte Jabba the Hut (one "t"). Luke goes back to Tatooine, Leia battles alone, Han and Chewie play the deadly Big Game, and Darth Vader hunts for answers! With all your old favorites and plenty of new faces--hello, Jaxxon!--there's no doubt, the Force is strong with this one!"

P.S. - Will Warwick Davis (aka Wicket the Ewok) somehow appear in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII? Here's your answer...
