We're big fans of PLAYMOBIL here at Rock Father HQ, one of our most-played-with toys of the past couple of years being the furnished shopping mall that I featured on the site a year ago (still played with every single day). With SUPER 4 on Netflix (#StreamTeam represent!), and new figures being released all the time, there's a lot of new stuff that we don't always get around to picking up, but still admire from afar. One such piece is the PLAYMOBIL Play Box Haunted House (5638) that was issued just in time to make my annual 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine. While we don't have this particular set in our personal collection just yet, the Play Box collection has always been pretty cool, and this one is no exception.

We're in a magical time, folks. The original content from Netflix (an organization I'm privileged to be associated with as a member of their #StreamTeam) is coming faster than ever, and it just keeps getting better. From MARVEL's DAREDEVIL and JESSICA JONES, to CARE BEARS & COUSINS and THE POPPLES (oh yes), there's so much great stuff in the pipeline, and the Holiday season is certainly not immune to the Golden touch. Netflix just released a teaser for A VERY MURRAY CHRISTMAS, and it's truly a delight. If I didn't know better, I'd think that I felt a snowflake on my cheek while watching Bill Murray, Paul Shaffer, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Rashida Jones, Michael Cera and much of Hollywood having an adventure in NYC. Check it out...

Netflix Stream TeamOn November 20, the Netflix Original Series MARVEL's JESSICA JONES will make it's debut, with all episodes available to binge watch or spread out as you may choose. Today comes an official teaser - one that shows just a hint of the true power held by this ex-superhero turned-detective. Set in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, JESSICA JONES is placed firmly in a world that we know will connect to other Netflix series' such as MARVEL's DAREDEVIL and the forthcoming LUKE CAGE. But an interesting tidbit - in the comics, Jessica Jones once dated Scott Lang, aka ANT-MAN. Does that mean we could see Paul Rudd appear? Not even a rumor, just my own wishful thinking...

Netflix #StreamTeamAs we move into Fall, there's a ton of great content arriving on Netflix in September, and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine has the full rundown on what's coming to the streaming service... and when. This month I'm also marking a collection of "Rock Father Picks," selections that I just dig for one reason or another. Some of those lean to the spookier side of things, because Halloween is just two months from today! Here's what's new on Netflix for September 2015...

Netflix #StreamTeamWhen it comes to learning, sometimes kids need a reminder that learning new things is fun - something that I’m told happens more often with older kids - ones that sit in that “tween age.” While my girls (The Rock Daughters™) are still much younger, we’re really working to embrace that sense of wonder, exploration and curiosity that both have. For Addie, our oldest, there’s been a growing tendency to conduct “experiments” on her own, and she generally pulls little Finn into the mix. Things can get messy, but that’s just fine as the girls develop their own first-hand methods of witnessing action and reaction… even if that means I might spout off like David Seville with a frustrated “Addddddie!” once in awhile (that’s my problem, not the kids’). With a lot of what they’re doing, the girls are engaging in a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) realm without even knowing it. Embracing those interests at a young age (or refreshing them at an older one) is why it’s cool to see a program like PROJECT Mc2 hitting the scene.

Dinotrux: A Kid's Dream Come True...

Netflix #StreamTeamFact: Most kids love dinosaurs. Another Fact: Most kids also love trucks, cars, trains, planes, boats and other things that are mechanical and/or move. Bonus Fact: The previous two facts are simply claimed by me, with no form of research and/or scientific proof to back that up. Hey, I didn’t question it when all of a sudden Optimus Prime had Grimlock and a bunch of other Dinobots running around back in 1984, so why would kids in 2015 question the existence of a race of “giant creatures that are half dinosaur, half construction vehicle and all awesome?” I figure most won’t…
