It's Earth Day Weekend, and to celebrate, The Rock Father™ has some cool giveaways to share! For this round, I'm giving readers a chance to score a copy of NATURE JAMS, the excellent new album from FARMER JASON and Buddies. The album was bestowed a 4.5 out of 5 Rating when I reviewed it last month, and it's a great collection to break out when having a fun afternoon outdoors. In order to enter, you must 'LIKE' both The Rock Father and Farmer Jason on Facebook. If you already like us, that's cool too, as the software will know and count the entries. You get one entry each for liking both pages! Hit the Rafflecopter box below and get those entries in. Good Luck!

Proving that nothing can ever happen entirely trouble-free, our Growums had a mishap this week. After doing quite well up until now, we were intending to wait maybe one more week until planting them in a raised garden bed here at Rock Father HQ. Everything was right on schedule when Carin the Carrot sent over an email alerting us that it's planting time, but with this weird weather, it just felt right to wait a little while longer. One of our dogs did not agree with this decision.

The wacky weather here in Northern Illinois continues this week, with temperatures slingshotting from the 60's to the 20's. As I type this right now, my iPhone says it's 40 right now, with a low of 28 expected for tonight. By Saturday it's expected that we'll hit 70 again, but where did those early 80's go? Regardless, it's about time to start planting things in the ground, but we're holding off for now. In the meantime, an email arrived this morning with Captain Cuke informing me that it's time to check on the Growums again - specifically, the Pizza Garden. I'd also received an email from Carrin the Carrot, with a reminder to check on someone else. You see, we welcomed another member of the Growums family a few weeks ago - one that I have yet to mention. Her name? Princess Strawberry.

Now this is what I call a crossover. While it's technically something that would be posted under 'Music for Kids,' when an album is called GROOVIN' IN THE GARDEN, it's seems fitting to tell you about it here on The Rock Father™ Gardening Blog. Released last December, this album from New York-based STORY LAURIE & Friends features 16-songs that are perfect listening for those sunny afternoons spent working with your plants. To give you a taste, Laurie is giving away five free songs for the low price of an email.

The weather here in Northern Illinois continues to be weird. Maybe those wacky Mayans were right... but at this point, anyone that wants to deny Global Climate Change is a real blockhead. We skipped Spring and went straight into Summer in mid-March, and while we've hit proper Spring temperatures for the first week in April, it's supposed to freeze tonight. What type of damage will Jack Frost be doing to all the premature perennials that have emerged already? I have no idea, but the days ahead will certainly be telling. Regardless, the little one and I have been doing some work in The Rock Father Garden, and we've had a little help.
