Cool Stuff for Busy Parents: The KIWI CRATE

Written by

It's Babywatch 2012 here at Rock Father HQ, with just 24 hours until the delivery of Daughter #2. My wife is hardcore, so she's working regular hours today, then she'll get ready for the scheduled arrival at noon tomorrow. While we're counting down the hours, some cool stuff is still coming in for readers of The Rock Father, and the Kiwi Crate is one of those.

Last Fall, one of the most popular posts on the Mach 1 version of The Rock Father (since reposted here) was a Garden Project transforming two antique washtubs that belonged to the little one's Great Grandparents. For the summer of 2012, those washtubs have kept their position as planters, but with a different flowering assortment. Here's a look at what we did on planting day, May 14th, and a look at what they look like on June 10.

Sponsor Message: June brings with it the official start of summer, and the folks at Build-A-Bear Workshop have provided The Rock Father with the details on a few early summer promotions that they're running online. Take a look below for all the new savings and special offers!

VANS launches HELLO KITTY line of Girls Shoes

Written by

Sponsor Message: Just like Daddy, my little girl loves VANS. I took her to the local VANS store for her first two pairs earlier this year and they fast became a part of her regular routine. That said, today VANS launched a new line of girls shoes that brings something else that my little one loves in the equation: HELLO KITTY.

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted an update on our Gardening Adventures here at Rock Father HQ, and the reason is simple: We've been busy! The weather has finally cracked (though it's dreary today) so the veggies are in the ground. We've also done some flower gardening (more on that later), but let's take a quick look at what we've planted for 2012 on the edible front...

I need to lower my expectations for everything. As depressing as that may sound, it's true. We've been having bad luck when it comes to cool-sounding events being 'as-advertised' when we actually get there. The May Kid's Workshop at Home Depot? No exception. On a National Scale, I think this is a great program with great partners - but my local store was lacking in execution. Allow me to explain...
