"Why is Bumblebee a different car?"  "Is that John Cena?" Those are questions asked by The Rock Daughters™ this morning as they checked out the trailer for Paramount Pictures' Bumblebee before school this morning. The first Transformers spin-off to come from the Michael Bay TF Universe, Bumblebee is a much smaller film, and one rooted in the "Generation One" era of the 1980s. We see 'Bee in his most famous form - the one kids learned to love back where it all started as a Volkswagen Beetle. But that's not all... look closely and you'll see that at some point he scans a Jeep Wrangler (maybe a Renegade?), and as the last Transformers film showed us, Bumblebee was at one point a military vehicle circa WWII. The designs are simpler, and there's definitely an E.T. vibe happening as ghostly voice of the late Bernie Mac reminds us that "the car will choose the driver." Take a look...

It's never fun to do a reveal that doesn't genuinely show the goods, but sometimes things just aren't quite ready yet. At Toy Fair there's always a lot of in-development product that's "pending licensor approval," and for some companies that means showing it privately, but not allowing pictures to get out there. The folks at Jada Toys have some fantastic offerings on the way, serving up new toys for kids and collectors alike, but unfortunately most of them are not ready to be seen. From new additions to their growing Nano Metalfigs line to all-new collections like a diecast line for girls (complete with licenses like Nickelodeon's Sunny Day) and expansion of their long-running Fast & Furious and supercar/tuners assortments, I'll be sharing much more very soon. For right now, though - there's one line in particular that really hit the sweet spot for me, and one property that really pushed it over the top. Hollywood Rides + KNIGHT RIDER? I'm in! Transforming vehicles are hardly a new thing, nor are the kinds of things that said vehicles change into. From sentient humanoid robots to insects and animalistic beasts, we've seen a lot of transformations over the past 30+ years, but now there's a new entry into that realm that's putting some new twists on things. From Alpha Group (formerly Auldey Toys US) comes SCREECHERS WILD!, a new collection of vehicles that transform into creatures using "explosive 360-degree flip morphing action." They're definitely hitting on the retro marks with the launch, presenting a commercial that feels straight outta the 80s with its neon-grid patterns and action-packed visuals. They call it "fuel-injected feeding time" as the vehicles either pick up (or have launched to them) a plastic disc ("food") that activates the flip transformation. Take a look...

Netflix #StreamTeamOn Friday, December 22, there's a new Netflix Original Series making its debut that's a perfect binge for the holiday break. THE TOYS THAT MADE US is an all-new look at some of the most iconic toy lines of all-time, and they're rolling out the first season with some heavy hitters. While it's not embeddable (yet), a full trailer just launched on Netflix (see it here), and in honor of the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, a special sneak-preview of the Star Wars episode was released as well (see that below). In fact, amid all that vintage Kenner glory, you just might see a shot of yours-truly when the episode streams this Friday. I provided them with something that may be in there, but that's just a tiny piece of the overall puzzle. From Hasbro's G.I. Joe & Transformers to Mattel's Barbie and He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, there's a lot of history about to be told, with additional season one episodes set to focus on Hello Kitty, Star Trek and LEGO.
