The marriage of barbecue flavors and Mexican dishes is perhaps one of the most natural in our country. Cooking meat in big Texas smokers infuses them with incredibly delicious flavors, while the spices and complimentary sides in Mexican cuisine help bring out the meat's inherent smokiness. Dive into this ultimate fusion food by learning about what it is, where you can find it, and how to make your own.
"It's classic American barbecue with the volume turned to high..."
When it comes to cooking, one thing I'm a big fan of is meat. Here at Rock Father HQ, my wife and daughters eat poultry, but when it comes to pork, fish or my favorite - red meat, I'm the only genuine, 100% carnivorous meat-eater in the bunch. That said, when a copy of Chef Michael Symon's new book arrived... let's just say the cover alone was mouthwatering. Now, publisher Clarkson Potter has teamed-up with The Rock Father™ to give YOU a shot at winning Michael Symon's Playing with Fire: BBQ and More from the Grill, Smoker, and Fireplace plus a Masterbuilt Charcoal Bullet Smoker! It's the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of spring and the coming days with more time spent grilling outside and crafting great meals to share with your family.

When it comes to seasonal beverages, fall and winter tend to be my favorites, and coffee leads the charge. For the latter, nothing beats the warmth of a "Peppermint Mocha" during the holiday season, yet how exactly to make one is something of a debate. There's no shortage of recipes available for coffee drinks that have a dash of mint and chocolate, but most of them tend to be time-consuming, sometimes messy, and generally more complicated than they need to be. So what do I deem to be the Rock Father-approved way to bring a Christmas coffeehouse classic home for the holidays? After some trial and error in the kitchen here at Rock Father HQ, I'm going to share with you my recipe for the The Simplest Peppermint Mocha Recipe to Make at Home, and it starts with Folgers Coffeehouse Blend.
When it comes to deliciously-demonic munchies and sinfully-sweet snacks, there's no better time of year than Fall to get my supernatural groove on. I'm a huge fan of General Mills' Monster Cereals - so much that I've written about them every Halloween for nearly a decade, with at least six posts appearing right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine. When Count Chocula®, Boo Berry® and Franken Berry® emerge from their Crypt, it's cause for celebration - a true throwback to my own childhood growing up in the late 70s/early 80s! The difference is that now I'm enjoying them with a family of my own, and my love of these cereals goes beyond breakfast. They can be used as fun snacks, and sometimes it's totally acceptable to play with your food... or just the box it came in.
If I was writing for certain other sites, the headline for this article would've been "You Won't Believe What Happened When These Men Smoked a Twinkie!" or "These Guys Lit a Pine Cone on Fire... What Happened Next will Surprise You!" Would either of those make the hook here any less... odd? Probably not, but the fact remains that you can smoke a Twinkie, and Chef Paul Shoemaker and Jimmy Wong just did it for the new Kitchen Lab video series from Bon Appetit. Check this out...
This past weekend, Valentine's Day got an early start with a very special PEANUTS-themed party featuring SNOOPY and his sister BELLE. Co-hosted by "the Little Red-Haired Girl" herself—aka Francesca Capaldi (DOG WITH A BLOG), the 10-year-old actress who plays the character in this Fall's THE PEANUTS MOVIE - the party took place at the Park Hyatt in Carlsbad, California, where Capaldi and friends tried on the latest Snoopy and his Sister Belle fashions from Target, danced to DJ-provided tunes, and decorated cupcakes with decorations from Cakes.com. Of course, they also enjoyed watching the classic Peanuts special, BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN, set to air on ABC alongside A CHARLIE BROWN VALENTINE on February 13th at 8pmEST/7pmCT. While my girls and I weren't able to make the party in-person (2,000 miles would've been a long drive), Pastry Chef Franck Riffaud of the Park Hyatt Aviara was kind enough to share his recipe for chocolate cake (or cupcakes) so that we could play along at home... and so YOU can as well! As a PEANUTS BRAND Ambassador, I'm helping to spread some Valentine's Day love with The Ultimate Snoopy & Belle Valentine's Prize Pack. One (1) lucky winner will score a fantastic "party in a box," while everyone can enjoy some delicious cake as we did here today!
