THE ROCK FATHER and his Circle K Mountain Dew Polar Pop Cup

It’s been nearly a year since I started The xB Mission - an idea that I could take what had been becoming an “old” car and start to reverse the process as its age begins inching toward “classic.” I special-ordered this car new, and I took delivery in June of 2004. 14 years and 160,000+ miles later, my Scion xB and I have a special relationship… like Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon, Michael Knight and K.I.T.T., The Lone Ranger and Silver. This ride and I have been through a lot together, and this year there will be more. What you can’t see in the picture above is that the whole family is there. My wife is snapping the photo, while our daughters are behind tinted glass in the back seat. While I’ve driven many vehicles over the years, it was my wife who once said “you’re synonymous with that car,” and in many ways that was the deciding factor to keep it rolling. Another thing that I’m known for? My beverage of choice: Mountain Dew Voltage. I’ve enjoyed thousands of them, and one of my favorites exclusive at Circle K on fountain is - Voltage Polar Pop® cup!

Mountain Dew Adds MTN DEW ICE to the Lineup...

Those who know me well know that my favorite beverage is Diet Mountain Dew. In fact, I distinctly remember the first time I was asked to provide a "rider" for a creative job I was doing back in 2006, and they said it was the simplest thing they'd ever seen. I asked for a flight, a hotel room, and a case of Diet Mountain Dew. While it's Diet that I prefer, I also make a point of trying every new flavor and variety that Dew rolls out, and this week comes news that Mountain Dew is introducing MTN DEW ICE, what they're calling "a crisp, clear, carbonated soft drink made with a splash of real juice that will keep Dew Nation charged and refreshed."

We do a lot of fun little projects here at Rock Father HQ, and most of you know that if it involves gardening, it's usually one of my favorites. This year, I decided to do something we've never attempted before... growing "baby" sunflowers in classic, glass pop bottles. Now, I could've easily called this project "Soda Pop Sunflowers" or "Pop Bottle Sunflowers," but I'm giving it a brand-name: "Mountain Dew Sunflowers." No, this post is not sponsored or endorsed by PepsiCo (the makers of Mountain Dew), but I'm a Dew loyalist - specifically that tasty Diet Mountain Dew that I drink a lot of. But it was regular Mountain Dew that I found in glass 4-packs, and those became our planters. Here's the story of our two-month journey...
