Ah, the weekend! A time to relax after a hard and honest week's work... to sit back and enjoy some quality time with the family. Or not. I don't know about you, but around here, there really isn't any down time. Family time, yes - but down time is non-existent. My wife is at her office Monday-Friday (and sometimes Saturday); I'm either working from home here in Illinois, or out on some crazy adventure (usually in Los Angeles); The Rock Daughters™ have school and preschool, respectively; and sometimes I have to tend to the band that I manage (in fact, a tour starts later this month, and I will join them on the road for a few dates). So the weekend... a time for even more activities, like ballet and tap. Sometimes there's theatre... or baseball... or gymnastics. My point? There is no end to the running, and it's a coffee-fueled affair (Folgers Ambassador - disclosure and all) - with the weekend being a week-ending wrap-up to my normal morning and mid-day routines. When I do relax, it's a prime example of some #CoffeeAndRock.
They say that Folgers is the best part of wakin' up, and that's true, but it's an undisputed fact that Folgers Coffee is also an important part of the entire day... especially here at Rock Father HQ. As a Folgers Brand Ambassador, I last showed you how Folgers plays into the early morning - the first hour in which my wife leaves for work, and the girls have to get ready and off to school. But what about the middle of the day... the couple of hours in which I have to get the bulk of my work done, and hopefully meet a few deadlines before having to go get the youngest of The Rock Daughters from preschool? Having my own coffee bar ready to rock here at the house not only provides me with that essential fuel for the day, but also saves me two important things: money and time. Hot Coffee? Got it. Iced Coffee? Got it! Did you also know that Folgers Coffee can help your goatee grow longer?* And is there a ZOOTOPIA nod somewhere in this story? Watch the video below to find out!
Not long ago, my friends at Folgers Coffee (I'm one of their Brand Ambassadors) asked me what I thought of when I thought of the morning here at Rock Father HQ. In an instant, my entire routine flashed through my brain like that moment in the Guy Ritchie film SNATCH - the one where "Cousin Avi" says he's "going to London."
There is definitely a distinct routine that takes place every morning here at Rock Father HQ, and what went through my head looked a little something like this...
THE ROCK FATHER is sharing #TheIndisposables in his life as part of a Schick® Xtreme3® sponsored series for Socialstars. Horns up! \m/ \m/
It's Fall, and with my favorite time of year comes some changes in habits - and, a few that are just seasonal alterations to the regular routine. Living in The Midwest, October brings a vibe that's unlike other areas of the country during this season. While the crisp air, harvest aromas and oodles of seasonal fun can be found in many parts of the U.S., it always seems that The Midwest becomes a bit darker... and a bit spookier. There's a good reason why so many horror movies are set in The Midwest, and right here in my home State of Illinois - they're rooted in reality! Michael Myers? Haddonfield, Illinois. Crystal Lake? There is one. Elm Street? Lots of 'em. POLTERGEIST III, CANDYMAN and CHILD'S PLAY? All set in Illinois. You want to survive October in The Land of Lincoln? I'll give you five essentials - but keep in mind that these are great tools to use no matter where you might roam... It's werewolf season.
THE ROCK FATHER is a Cross Country Cafe Brand Ambassador, throwing down words on Coffee and Rock.
With all the words I've put out there about STAR WARS over the past few months, it occurred to me that even in the kitchen I often lean toward The Dark Side. Bold, that is. With the exception of a specialty drink here and there (Hello, Pumpkin Spice Latte!), I prefer my coffee to be unadulterated by creams and sweeteners. I like it pure. I like it black. My friends at Cross Country Cafe - the best source for ordering Keurig K-cups and Nespresso compatible pod coffee for less - sent over five new boxes of K-Cups to check out, and today I'm sharing my thoughts on each. They're all from The Dark Side...
This week, Nashville rocker JASMINE CAIN unleashed her latest album, WHITE NOISE. Produced by Lincoln Parish (CAGE THE ELEPHANT) and featuring special guests including guitarists Jeff LaBar (CINDERELLA), Gerry Finn (KILLER DWARFS) & Charlie Parra - the album also has an appearance by Ralph Saenz (aka Michael Starr from STEEL PANTHER) on the closing number, "Fall to Rise." While a new album and a tour rolling into the biker Mecca of Sturgis, SD is a pretty great way to end a week, the added bonus that arrived here at Rock Father HQ alongside the CD was a bag of Jasmine Cain's Coffin Coffee - and that was a highlight for me. Two things I love are coffee and rock, and Jasmine Cain sent me both. Along with The Rock Daughters (Addie in particular), I decided to do my first-ever video review of a coffee for Rock Father TV.
