From Moose Toys, the leader in the micro-collectible scene (Shopkins!) comes the Despicable Me 3 Mineez Balthazar Bratt San Diego Comic Con 2017 Exclusive Figure Set. Ever since posting a sneak-preview of Spin Master's RUSTY RIVETS toy collection back in February, one of the most-often-asked questions I get is: "When are those Rusty Rivets toys coming out?" When I was at Sweet Suite in NYC with The Toy Insider earlier this month, I asked one of my friends at Spin Master and was presented with the cryptic "they've been pushed back slightly, but they're coming soon." Today we have the date...

Blame Canada. At least in this instance, the title of the Oscar-winning 1999 song from the South Park motion picture might ring true, if only for those individuals that happen to have been a part of the angry social mob that just attacked Spokane-based RESCUE! Pest Control over the past couple of days. This angry, misguided gang of idiots also decided it was worth attacking yours truly based upon a 2014 review that I'd written about the TrapStik Non-Toxic Wasp Trap, followed by some social posts over the past few years - most recently, this past May. Part of my mission is to guide families toward products that work, and when it comes to controlling the Wasp population, there is nothing that I've found that works as well as the TrapStik - and it does so without pesticides of any kind. Now, they're being voluntarily pulled from the market pending a redesign, and that's a decision I don't agree with. The reason for the fiasco? The occasional unintended creature (bird or bug) may get stuck on the TrapStik. Personally, that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Netflix Stream TeamDreamWorks' VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER has been a big hit for Netflix over the past year, and now comes word that the third season will begin streaming on Netflix beginning August 4, 2017. Much of the tease revolves around the fact that it might be time to seek a new pilot for The Black Lion, because after all - no Black Lion, no Voltron. Check it out below, and get ready for some major action!

The latest addition to the "I wish they had this when I was a kid" department here at Rock Father HQ comes from Radio Flyer, who've just announced their Star Wars Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder Ride-on toy. Geared toward kids ages 4+, this two-seater hits a top speed of 5mph, and bears a weight limit of 130 lbs. Modeled after the iconic X-34 craft from 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope, this ride features an interactive dashboard with movie-accurate lights and sounds, and provides the perfect craft for chasing down your pesky run-away R2 unit. Just watch out for Sandpeople, though - the Jundland Wastes are not to be traveled lightly, and Tusken Raiders often travel single file to hide their numbers. See the Radio Flyer Landspeeder in action below!

At Sweet Suite '17, otherwise known as "The Biggest Night of Play," I had the opportunity to host a segment on The Toy Insider's live stream - straight from Chelsea Piers in New York City. The task at hand? Unboxing a few of the newest toys from K'NEX. Expected to be among 2017's hottest holiday toys, I took a live look at the Budding Builders Tub from Kid K'NEX, along with the Power & Play Motorized Building Set, and the all-new Web Weaver Roller Coaster Building Set from the K'NEX Thrill Rides Collection. Captured during the livestream, the full video can now be viewed below!

I made my first trip to Walt Disney World in Florida in 1988. It was a unique experience in that I went by myself - sans parents - at age 12, the winner of a contest held by the Star Newspapers here in Chicagoland. I was a paperboy - a "newspaper carrier" - and as part of a yearly push for great customer service and increased subscriptions, the top carriers were rewarded with a trip to Disney World. I was one of them, and the experience marked my first ride in a limousine, and my first big adventure away from home (under the guidance of two chaperones). The Magic Kingdom is, indeed, a magical place, and in 2016 I returned for the first time as a parent, my wife and I taking our girls on a Florida adventure. On the west coast, I'd never been to Disneyland until December of 2015, when I attended as a guest as part of the Global Media Event for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Five hours in the park and I was hooked. I did return this week (more on that later), but at the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, I was on the show floor, live-tweeting announcements about what the future holds for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. There's a whole lot of Marvel... a whole lot of Star Wars... a whole lot of Pixar... some new ships... new hotels... and a ton of magic to be experienced. Here's the full rundown...

The 2017 D23 Expo was absolutely massive, and while I live-tweeted the festivities direct from the show floor, I'm still trying to collect my thoughts on everything that I've seen and heard, even now that I've been back in Illinois for a full day. At the live-action film presentation, Alan Horn, Chairman, Walt Disney Studios, introduced Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production to give an overview of what moviegoers can expect to see across Disney, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm over the next few years. For a few projects, development is still fairly early on, but ALADDIN was confirmed to be directed by Guy Ritchie, with Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie, with original music by Alan Menken with Pasek & Paul (La La Land) handling lyrics. MULAN will be helmed by Niki Caro (McFarland, USA, Whale Rider), and JUNGLE CRUISE marks the latest Disneyland ride to get a big screen nod, with Dwayne Johnson set to star. Those announcements simply scratch the surface, as the lineup is huge, and I've got all the details below...

At the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation took to the stage in Hall D23 (introduced by Alan Horn, pictured above) to give audiences some new insight into what's coming down the pipeline from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar and DisneyToon Studios. I was in attendance for the presentation (I was tweeting live from the floor) and got a first-hand look at some incredible things that were shown for the very first time - some of which can be shared with you now, while others you'll have to wait to see. What's certain is that there's a stellar lineup ahead, including some much-requested new chapters of fan-favorite franchises, along with some completely unexpected new films. Here's the details...

What happens when World of Dance meets Bunch O Balloons? With Zuru Toys' easy-to-use and water balloons already being a huge hit here at Rock Father HQ, the prospect is intriguing, and the answer to the question has been revealed in a new video presenting the first-ever #SplashMob! In Los Angeles, NBC World of Dance contestant and So You Think You Can Dance winner, Fik-Shun recently surprised unsuspecting pool party goers with an epic Splash Mob performance attended by over 50 World of Dance performers, including Autumn Miller (Spring Sisters World of Dance), the Miniotics Dance Crew (America’s Got Talent Season 11), Hall of Fame Dance Team and Soul Fresh to name a few. Captured using twelve cameras and more than 5,000 self-tying Bunch O Balloon water balloons, the video evidence was released today and can be seen below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine!

The premiere of Disney XD's reimagining of DuckTales is fast-approaching, and that's fueling nostalgia for the original series as well. Just before the recent D23 Expo kicked-off in Anaheim, California, the folks at Funko (who had a sizable presence at the event) revealed their first series of DuckTales Pop! Vinyl figures. Coming this fall, and available for pre-order via my allies at Entertainment Earth, the first series includes Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. There's even a GameStop Exclusive Magica De Spell. Check them all out below!

As the 2017 edition of the D23 Expo draws to a close, closing the book on another installment of "The Ultimate Disney Fan Event," the news is really just getting started. I'm still here in Anaheim, getting ready to head back to Chicago on the red eye - and much of what I've seen has yet to be revealed. I did get a rare look backstage in the growing "Hall D23," and alongside all the technical magic, much of the talent involved with the next few years of entertainment from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm was on-hand to drop the curtain on a few surprises. So what did all of these actors and filmmakers do while hanging out in the pipe-and-drape "green rooms?" They had fun, and made some videos - many of which are now on Instagram. From Jon Favreau representing THE LION KING, to the voices of the Disney Princesses, the cast of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, MARY POPPINS and a host of AVENGERS and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, take a look at some of what happened backstage...

This morning, GARBAGE released their new single "NO HORSES". All of Garbage's profits from sales and streaming of the single will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the end of 2018. "NO HORSES" can be downloaded HERE via iTunes, and streamed below...
