When it comes to holiday specials, Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has always ranked among my favorites - one that I'd eagerly await seeing each year when HBO would get around to airing it again... those primitive years before home video really caught on. Despite numerous releases on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray over the years, the soundtrack never got a proper release, and that's left fans like myself a little bit bummed. Paul Williams is a legend, having penned the Academy Award-nominated song "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie, "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born and many other #1 hits (he was also Little Enos in Smokey and the Bandit) and his music from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has been fueling singalongs for over 40 years. Now, just in time for the 2018 holiday season, the world premiere release of the soundtrack has finally taken place and Varèse Sarabande Records and The Rock Father™ have teamed-up to give you a chance to win the all-new CD!
One of my favorite childhood toys is coming back to television after a successful relaunch last year. Wicked Cool Toys and their partner Alchemy II, Inc. have teamed up with The Jim Henson Company to develop an animated fantasy adventure series for kids ages 3-7 based on Teddy Ruxpin.
What a great day, today is. It's nearly an ICE CUBE-style "Good Day," and it's only been made better by the news that THE MUPPETS are coming to ABC. Tuesdays at 8/7c this Fall, THE MUPPETS is the dramatic reinvention that longtime Muppets fans like myself have been waiting for - a return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for “kids” of all ages. The first trailer just hit, and it's well-worth your time, check it out!
This Monday, Jim Henson's DINOSAUR TRAIN rolls into town for an all-new, hour-long special on PBS KIDS with the NATURE TRACKERS ADVENTURE CAMP. Featuring four exciting and educational adventures (full details on each below), The Rock Daughters and I have not only taken an early look at the special, but have recently completed one of the fun (and free) activities that YOU can do with your little ones as a member of the Nature Trackers Club. Our adventure: Growing Crystals.
My daughters love PAJANIMALS. In fact, they're a part of Addie's nightly bedtime ritual, as we wind down by watching an episode, then follow it with their "La-La-Lullaby" song that we have on the DVR courtesy of Sprout. Now, the Jim Henson Company has announced that the cuddly characters are packing their bags and hitting the road for PAJANIMALS LIVE: PAJAMA PLAYDATE - a new, live musical production set to visit 50 cities in 2013. One of the dates happens to be just 15 minutes from Rock Father HQ, so it looks like we'll be checking this out! Full tour dates and details below...
This was a real toss up: File under "Music for Kids" or "Music for Grownups?" Well, since FRAGGLE ROCK is involved, I'm going with "kids" even though the BEN FOLDS FIVE is the responsible artist. In the footsteps of OK GO and WEEZER, BEN FOLDS FIVE have some Muppet counterparts in their new video for "Do It Anyway," a song taken from their long-awaited comeback album, THE SOUND OF LIFE OF THE MIND (out this week on ImaVeePee/Sony).
