I distinctly recall someone in my family - perhaps my Father, maybe even a Grandfather - having a bottle of two of BRITISH STERLING around when I was a kid. After all, when your brand sells over 50 Million units in the 1970s, it's bound to show up somewhere. Even Lynn Tilton, CEO of Patriarch Partners, the New York-based private equity firm that owns Dana Fragrances agrees, “For years British Sterling could be found in almost every household across America." For 2014, BRITISH STERLING is back - sleeker, and better than ever with a pair of NEW fragrances - H.I.M. "Reserve," and H.I.M. "Private Stock." What is "H.I.M.," you ask? H.I.M. is short for ‘His Imperial Majesty’ - a subtle nod to King George VI who was one of only a few British Royals to hold that title and who’s military background led him to work tirelessly to strengthen the image and resolve of England after World War II. With Rock Father's Day approaching, Dana Fragrances and THE ROCK FATHER have teamed up to deliver some BRITISH STERLING.

"I was a wild 25 year-old musician, free and crazy, and it hit me like a ton of bricks to the gut," explains SECRET AGENT 23 SKIDOO while recalling the moment he discovered that he'd soon become a father for the first time. "You wanted honesty, right?," he continues, reflecting on twelve years of parenting ahead of Rock Father's Day 2014, and the June 24th release of his latest album of family-friendly funk, THE PERFECT QUIRK. Like many fellow "Rock Fathers" (myself included), the undisputed king of "Kid-Hop" may have been on a different path in the beginning, but it all came together. He continues, "I told my soon-to-be-wife that as long as she was down with being with a musician, 'cause I wasn't gonna change, that I would be the best father and husband i could possibly be. As soon as she accepted that instantly, I knew we'd all be alright."

With Rock Father's Day fast-approaching (June 15), it can be expected that there's a lot of new dads out there - or even some soon-to-be dads (and Moms!) - that dig a little throwback hair metal from time to time. For those about to rock their nursery, my friends at Roma Music Group have been building quite the library of lullabies based on the works of popular artists. Whether you hope to have a rock star baby, a hard rock and metal baby, or even a pop star, jam band, soul or musical-loving infant, they have something for you in their Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star collection, and with LULLABY VERSIONS OF HAIR METAL POWER BALLADS having just-been released, they've teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER to get five (5) lucky readers hooked-up with digital downloads of the new record, just in-time for Father's Day. You know, I don't think I'd be out of line in stating that many children have likely been conceived to the original versions of these songs...

"It was my 27th birthday and my wife, Rebecca, had a wonderful little surprise for me that day. We had 'pulled the goalie' for about a month, so we were definitely trying to get pregnant," explains DANNY ADAMSON, rhythm guitarist and vocalist for Seattle's THE NOT-ITS!, while discussing the day he found out that he'd soon become a father for the first time. "She went and bought a little onesie or unisex baby outfit and wrapped it up like a birthday gift for me - I think she may have even included the pee test she took! It was a wonderful surprise - I was pretty excited when I found out." With THE NOT-ITS! gearing-up to release their fifth full-length album, RAISE YOUR HAND, on July 15, Adamson took some time to discuss his life as a "Rock Father" ahead of #RockFathersDay 2014.

Spinning things back more than a decade, there was a time before the music industry bubble burst... a time in which I worked for the long-gone Sam Goody division of the Musicland Group, and for a few years, attended the annual meetings in Las Vegas. At one of those meetings (either 2002 or '03), SALIVA took the stage, performing for us in a ballroom at Caesars Palace. A lot has changed in that time - what feels like a lifetime ago - but SALIVA is still rockin', and while they've gone through some lineup changes, their eighth studio album, RISE UP, was released this Spring. As part of #RockFathersDay 2014 here on THE ROCK FATHER, SALIVA and I have teamed-up to get six (6) lucky readers hooked-up with some goodies. One reader will score a SALIVA Gift Pack, while five runners-up will score copies of the new album on CD. Ready to RISE UP?

On June 10, just in time for Rock Father's Day 2014, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will present a fantastic journey through the universe as Carl Sagan’s visionary series continues with COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD. Debuting two days after the epic conclusion airs on FOX, fans can re-watch this legendary story 13.8 billion years in the making, in spectacular high-definition. Now, Fox and THE ROCK FATHER are teaming up to get one lucky reader hooked-up with a copy of the series on Blu-ray! Check out the full details, along with a great feature on some unsung heroes of science, below!

You might not immediately associate this year's remake of the 1987 hit, ROBOCOP, with Fatherhood - but in a weird way, it's a movie with emotional elements completely tied to being a Dad. While I'll go into that in more detail in my formal review, what I can tell you is that Joel Kinnaman does a fine job of portraying a Father that's dealing with some extraordinary circumstances... but this is ROBOCOP, and it's also a fine action film that movie-minded Dads will dig. With that, my friends at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and I have teamed-up to bring you a giveaway for Rock Father's Day 2014. One of you will score the just-released Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD combo pack!

"They’re part of the subject matter, have helped with songs and song titles and are my best critics," says POOCHAMUNGAS frontman JOHN JOYCE about his 9-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son. The self-proclaimed "stay-at-home Firefighter Dad" wears many hats, flipping between his duties as a "Rock Father" and those of the Chicago Fire Department, where he's worked for nearly two decades. Now, ahead of Rock Father's Day 2014, it's just been announced that John is preparing to take the stage at Lollapalooza, a newly-minted member of the "Chicago Kindie All Stars," who will perform on the growing Kidzapalooza bill.

June 15, 2014 is Father's Day this year, and for me, the date holds special significance well beyond just being the annual celebration of Fatherhood. June 15 will mark the second birthday of my youngest daughter, Finley, and also mark the "official" entry into Year Four for THE ROCK FATHER™ as a website. Of course, it was back in 2009 - nearly five years ago - that I effectively became "The Rock Father" upon the birth of my first daughter, Adalyn. A lot has changed since then - including the scope of this site... but what about those other "Rock Fathers?"

Back in January, Jelly Belly released their long-awaited jelly beans flavored to taste like a perfectly balanced Draft Beer (previously featured here). While they'd been developing drink-inspired falvors since the 1980s, it took until 2014 for Jelly Belly to unleash a crisp, clean, Draft Beer jelly bean. For a unique gift that won't break the bank, the Draft Beer Jelly Belly jelly beans land here in the 2014 Rock Father's Day Gift Guide.
