Review: Disney's CINDERELLA (Blu-ray)

When Disney started making moves to launch a live-action series of motion pictures based upon the animated classics from their long-running library, many viewers (like myself) wondered whether it was a good idea to mine the archives. After all, the classics are untouchable, iconic pieces of cinematic history, and in the case of certain fairy tale-based characters, they've been done so many times in so many formats, that another telling just seems redundant. But once you see a film like Kenneth Branagh's CINDERELLA, it becomes apparent that the tale can once again be beautiful and fresh, renewed for current and future generations in a manner that stands on its own.

This week, Nashville rocker JASMINE CAIN unleashed her latest album, WHITE NOISE.  Produced by Lincoln Parish (CAGE THE ELEPHANT) and featuring special guests including guitarists Jeff LaBar (CINDERELLA), Gerry Finn (KILLER DWARFS) & Charlie Parra - the album also has an appearance by Ralph Saenz (aka Michael Starr from STEEL PANTHER) on the closing number, "Fall to Rise." While a new album and a tour rolling into the biker Mecca of Sturgis, SD is a pretty great way to end a week, the added bonus that arrived here at Rock Father HQ alongside the CD was a bag of Jasmine Cain's Coffin Coffee - and that was a highlight for me. Two things I love are coffee and rock, and Jasmine Cain sent me both. Along with The Rock Daughters (Addie in particular), I decided to do my first-ever video review of a coffee for Rock Father TV.

On September 15, Disney's recent live-action CINDERELLA comes home on Digital HD, Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) and Blu-ray Combo Pack, presenting the film alongside it's opening act - the short film, FROZEN FEVER. The feature-packed Blu-ray and DMA versions come with numerous bonuses, including what I'm sharing with you today - an alternate opening that gives audiences a deeper look at the girl who would soon grow up to be CINDERELLA...

It's finally here - the official trailer for the new short film, FROZEN FEVER. The official follow-up to Walt Disney Animation's Oscar-winning cultural smash (see all my coverage here) will debut in front of Walt Disney Motion Picture Studios' live-action CINDERELLA (get tix) in theaters everywhere on March 13. I haven't shown this to my girls yet, but what I can tell you is that Olaf steals birthday cake like my oldest does - not-so-stealthily, and in plain sight. Check out the seasonally-appropriate trailer below and start thinking Spring!
