After attending Wizard World events for nearly two decades, including a couple as a creator/guest myself, I've always wondered why they didn't formally start including music into their mix. After all, there's been many artists that have appeared at their events, including Static-X, Twiztid and Insane Clown Posse - all promoting comic titles. Last year, Wizard World Music tested the waters for bigger things, with performances by Grimes and The Pretty Reckless, and today comes news that Wizard World Touring has launched in partnership with veteran music and technology executive Nick Turner. The new unit "will bring vibrant live entertainment to Wizard World shows, building on the Wizard’s initiative to create an atmosphere of a weekend festival at every Wizard World show." First up: a club tour by KISS frontman (and no stranger to comics) Gene Simmons, complete with appearances at five Wizard World Comic Con events.
Grammy® Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day today announced the Revolution Radio summer tour, kicking off on August 1st in Auburn, WA and hitting amphitheaters, stadiums, and arenas across the country. UK based band Catfish and the Bottlemen will support all dates. As part of the run, the band will also perform for the first time at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. Dates and on-sale information for those shows will be revealed in the coming weeks. See below for a complete list of confirmed dates.
It's been 26 years since Home Alone first hit theaters, and with the holiday season entering full-swing once more, families around the world will soon be catching up with Kevin McCallister and The Wet Bandits. Following last year's excellent Ultimate Collector's Edition of the five films in the Home Alone series, this year we spin back to where it all started, thanks to a new collection of bobbleheads released by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee. Designed and created by the team at NECA under license from 20th Century Fox, this trio of "Head Knockers" is one of the instances where the real product looks even better in person than it does in marketing materials - these are fantastic.
It's Chicago Toy & Game Week, and that means we're once again counting down the days until the annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair (ChiTAG) once again takes over Navy Pier. Kids and families can go hands-on with some of this year's hottest holiday toys, get a jump on shopping, or simply come out to play! Tickets are on-sale now (Click here to register with a $3 Off Coupon) for Saturday & Sunday, November 19 & 20, and as we look toward what aims to be the biggest year yet, I'm throwing down some "Rock Father Picks" for what to check out. I've done this in the past, but this year is the first that we've made it official - I'm a 2016 "Play Influencer!"
Chicago Toy & Game Week is next week, and as all roads point to the annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair, taking place November 19 & 20 at Navy Pier. ChiTAG has become a family tradition in which the kids can go hands-on with some of the hottest toys of the holiday season as toy & game makers put on a show at the largest non-hobby Toy & Game Fair that welcomes the public into the fold. As one of the 2016 Play Influencers, I'm pleased to announce a pre-ChiTAG twitter party on Wednesday, November 9, 2016! Brought to you by #ChiTAG (@ChiTAGWeek) and #30SecondMom (@30SecondMom), I'll be co-hosting (@TheRockFather) along with the Toy Queen, Keri Wilmot (@ToyQueen) and Alison Ray (@SoChicLife).
