''I see a little silhouetto of a man. Scaramouch, Scaramouch will you do the fandango?'' No? Well, would you like to score a copy of the definitive QUEEN documentary on Blu-ray? If so, you might be in luck...
The rockin' folks over at Eagle Rock Entertainment just released QUEEN: DAYS OF OUR LIVES last week, and they're hooked up The Rock Father™ with a trio of Blu-rays that you know have a chance to acquire through our very first giveaway here on the new site!
Note: Just five days after posting this article, WONDER! abruptly closed without warning. Read my follow-up post here.
Last Monday, after a family trip to the Doctor for an ultrasound (which revealed our forthcoming ''new release'' to be a girl), my wife and daughter and I made a stop in Deerfield, Illinois to check out WONDER! - an ambitious new shopping destination geared toward children and families. While shopping might be the initial draw, it's the entertainment and service aspects of the store where WONDER! really goes above and beyond what one would expect in a children's retail emporium.
For all the Rock Fathers and Rock Moms out there, we've got something special just for you. If you think you can shred on the guitar like Eddie Van Halen, take a shot at covering the new single Tattoo from the new VAN HALEN album A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH (available now on iTunes in regular and deluxe editions)! If you can pull it off, you just might score a special VAN HALEN guitar, or some killer VH merch! Don't know how to wield a six-string? That's ok, too. You can still enter for a chance to win some VAN HALEN merchandise for yourself ;)
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards have just concluded on CBS, and I'm one of the camp that views the Grammys as a celebration of an organization and votership that is completely irrelevant, overly self-congratulatory, narrow-minded, boring, and predictable year after year. Despite those views, I thought it might be fun to compile a list of of music inspired by some of the night's biggest winners, but reworked and performed for the smallest members of your family: newborn infants. Here's a run-down of lullaby renditions of select winner's songs that are currently available on iTunes.
If you enjoyed The Random Rock columns when I was doing them for Kik Axe Music, then you'll be pleased to know that they'll be continuing here on The Rock Father™. The concept is simple: There's just too much news for just one site to handle, so we compile bite-sized headlines on a few dozen bands and artists into one post. If you want to learn more, we'll tell you where to go. As the title implies, this really is random rock. Heavy metal, radio rock, punk, indie rock, ska, mainstrem, black metal, grindcore... if it's part of rock, then it's probably here, but you might find some other genres dropped in as well.

As I'm sure you're already aware, STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE is back in theaters as of today, newly ''enhanced'' with 3D. Unlike many of my peers, I don't hate the movie - nor do I hate George Lucas for continuing to tweak his universe. Instead, I just choose how I will enjoy it on a case-by-case basis. Despite all the changes over the years, nothing can take away the memories I have from experiencing it the first time around. That said, I haven't rushed out to see the first prequel in it's dimensionally-expanded form. I'm more surprised to realize that it's 13 years old already.
