WWE Brand AmbassadorThis week, WWE and First Book formally announced the launch of their 2015 WrestleMania Reading Challenge, giving students ages 4-18 the chance to win a trip to WrestleMania 31 on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Now through Sunday, February 22, students can register for the WrestleMania Reading Challenge at WWEReadingSuperstar.com. Through WWE’s partnership with First Book’s digital reading initiative, We Give Books, children between the ages of 4-12 can select a WWE Superstar Reading Buddy and read digital books to participate, while teens ages 13-18 can select a WWE Superstar Pen Pal, read a book and write an essay.

WWE"Breast cancer is not just an issue that affects women, it affects families," explained WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon as we met up in Chicago once more this past Monday to celebrate the launch of WWE's third annual partnership with Susan G. Komen in an effort to raise funds and awareness to smackdown the terrible disease that touches millions of families each year. "My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor," she continued, elaborating on how cancer is an issue with a very personal connection to her family, and one very concerning since she and husband Paul Levesque (Triple H) are raising three daughters of their own. As National Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, WWE has "gone pink," and on the October 6 installment of Monday Night Raw on USA, there will be a few special guests...

I was just two weeks past my ninth birthday when my Dad and I hopped in the car and headed north to the Rosemont Horizon for THE WRESTLING CLASSIC, a WWF pay-per-view event for the newly-launched WRESTLEVISION service. It was there that I witnessed some of the true "legends of wrestling" live and in-person... and I can still vividly recall those larger-than-life figures like The Iron Sheik (who entered with a giant Iranian flag), Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Miss Elizabeth, Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Junkyard Dog and Nikolai Volkoff, all flying from the ropes and hitting the mat hard. This was at that time when Sports Entertainment was really becoming a huge deal, and it was something that families would enjoy together, kids would discuss at school, and "Hulkamania" would become widespread while Hogan and others began appearing in cartoons, in movies, recording albums, and selling a ton of action figures. Nearly 20 years later, history is repeating itself... but on a little different level.
