ANTHRAX is closing out the week with the surprise release of the first single and lyric video from their forthcoming new album. "Evil Twin" (available now on Amazon & iTunes) takes on the political and religious extremism of recent years, an old-school throwback that comes off as a thematic companion to songs such as Megadeth's "Holy Wars."
Until a link hit my inbox this evening, I was unaware of the massive spectacle that filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (BLACK SWAN) had been crafting for the past two years...
Based on the best-selling book, THE BIBLE, NOAH is the cinematic adaptation of the story of Noah, "the world's only righteous man," as he takes on "a divine mission to build a massive ark to save his family and all of creation before the impending rains fall and the flood waters rise." It's the big budget telling of Noah's Ark starring Russell Crowe as the title character, with Jennifer Connelly as Naameh, Emma Watson as Ila, and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah. Check out the trailer below. NOAH is set for release by Paramount Pictures on March 28, 2014.
I will never have a son. That is a certainty, as my wife and I decided to go out on top and close the baby factory after the birth of our second daughter last June. Indeed, after masterfully creating two beautiful offspring (no modesty here, we made good-looking kids and had fun doing it) we're done. Having a pair of girls, one thing I'll never have to deal with is circumcision. I know it's a hot-button issue for a lot of folks, and I've seen many of my peers in the Parent Blogging Community (both Dad Bloggers and Mom Bloggers) write about it at length. There's social issues... health concerns... and then those pesky religious implications. That said, for those of you dealing with the circumcision debate, one man has the definitive answer: Trevor Moore.
With Pope Francis crowned at The Vatican today, it's just proper that the band GHOST... now known as GHOST B.C. in the U.S. ("for legal reasons") has released a new song entitled "Year Zero." It is by far, the grooviest Satanic Anthem celebrating the Glory and Majesty of "the ancient serpent deceiver" that I have ever heard. "Belial. Behemoth. Beelzebub. Asmodeus. Satanas. Lucifer!" The track comes as part of the now-failed attempt at electing Papa Emeritus II as Supreme Pontiff, with it having been unlocked on a special website launched to commemorate the occasion. Crank it up below!
On March 26, Comedy Central Records will release DRUNK TEXTS TO MYSELF, the debut comedy album from TREVER MOORE (a founding member of sketch troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know). Even though the video has been out for a couple of weeks, it feels right to post "The Pope Rap (Modern Day Profit)" here today since that whole "Pope Francis" thing went down at The Vatican this afternoon.
This has been a difficult post to sit down and write. For the past two days, I've been conflicted on exactly what to say, but as I told my wife earlier today, it felt impossible for me to resume posting on The Rock Father like "business as usual." The world today is a different place than it was on Friday morning, when in-between dropping off and picking up my oldest daughter from her "Terrific 2's & 3's" program, I did a quick post about some new tracks on ROCK BAND just before giving my infant a bottle while checking out a KNIGHT RIDER re-run on G4. What was taking place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut was a rampage of an unimaginable and horrifying scale.
